Kerkstraat, The Hague, Holland.
We purchased a 150-year-old townhouse (Rækkehus in Dutch) in the centre of The Hague. The house was in very poor condition inside when we got it, so we did a full renovation after stripping it back so that only to the 4 external walls and a small part of the roof remained.
We installed XL dormer windows in the front and back side of the roof in order to gain more light and more square meters on the 3rd floor which allowed us to have 2 double bedrooms and a full bathroom on the 3rd floor.
We redesigned the entire layout of the house to reflect modern standards of living e.g. 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom on the 2nd and 3rd floors, an open plan kitchen, dining room & living room on the ground floor and a separate entrance hall and Lavatory on the ground floor.
We also added a 15m2 extension to the rear of the ground floor that has floor to ceiling windows across the full width of the house in order to let more light in.
We built new floors on all 3 levels of the house and therefore new internal walls and ceilings too. New windows and doors throughout and completely new plumbing, heating and electrical systems.
